Out of disinfectant? How to make your own homemade disinfectant spray.

Writer: tribalyogallctribalyogallc

2020 so far has been pretty eventful say the least. The Corona Virus has the world in complete panic mode. So much so that the shelves in all of the stores are EMPTY. Toilet paper, Lysol and rubbing alcohol are more precious than gold.

With all of this time we have gained (because we can't go anywhere) we can create our own disinfectant, while we wait patiently for the shelves to be restocked.

What do you need?

1. 1/4 cup Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) that is 70% or higher. (According to the CDC, you want to use an alcohol that is at least 70% alcohol to disinfect surfaces.) If you cannot find rubbing alcohol then you can use ethanol alcohol (vodka for example) that is a minimum of 140 proof or higher.

2. 1/4 cup White Vinegar

3. 1 1/4 cups Water

4. 15 drops Essential Oils (Below you will find some essential oil suggestions)

5. Spray Bottle

Make sure you mix all the ingredients well!

BAM! Congratulations, you have just created your own disinfectant spray!

Essential Oil Suggestions

Below are some essential oils that have disinfectant properties:

  1. tea tree

  2. lavender

  4. lemon

  5. orange

  6. eucalyptus

  7. rosemary

  8. cinnamon

  9. clove

  10. thyme

Do not be afraid to mix some of the essential oils together. For example: peppermint + lemon or lavender.
